26-year-old in critical condition after being hit by car

A 26-year-old man remains in hospital in critical condition after he was hit by a car in a possible drink driving accident early yesterday morning.

Police were called at around 4am to reports of a serious collision in Clapham High Street, Clapham, involving a car and a pedestrian.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance also attended, and the man was taken to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

The driver, a 43-year-old man, stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken to a South London police station.

Detectives investigating the collision are appealing to witnesses for more information.

A spokesman from the Met said: “We are looking for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of this incident. Please contact 101 quoting CAD 1368/30JUL23.”
