Lewisham woman fatally stabbed in her home died on her birthday six days later
A woman fatally stabbed in her home in June died on her 59th birthday.
Police have named the victim knifed on Wednesday, 10 June as Dawn Bennett, aged 58 of Lewisham Way, Lewisham.
A murder investigation was launched after Dawn died six days later in hospital on Tuesday 16 June, from her injuries sustained in the incident.
Officers were initially alerted to welfare concerns for the occupant of an address on Lewisham Way, Lewisham, on Wednesday, 10 June, at about 9pm.
They found Dawn suffering from stab wounds and she was taken to a South London hospital by paramedics, but she died on Tuesday, 16 June, the day of her 59th birthday.
A post-mortem examination found the cause of death was an incised wound to the chest.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on the day of the incident on suspicion of attempted murder, and remanded into custody. He was charged with the offence and following an appearance at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 12 June, was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, 10 July.
