Activist shares journey to success in inspirational talk for students
An entrepreneur and activist recently delivered an inspiring speech to young students during a talk about his rise to success.
E-ACT City Heights Academy in Abbots Park, Tulse Hill, welcomed Sayce Holmes-Lewis, chief executive officer and founder of the award-winning organisation Mentivity, to deliver an assembly to Year 11 students.
Mr Holmes-Lewis, who grew up on the Aylesbury Estate, in Walworth, spoke about the experiences that shaped his determination to create opportunities for young people.
He said: “It was an honour to speak at City Heights and connect with such a fantastic group of young people.
“Life is full of challenges, but by believing in yourself, working hard, and staying focused, you can achieve incredible things.
“I hope the assembly inspired the students to see their potential and take steps towards fulfilling their ambitions.”
Since its founding in 2016, Mentivity has positively influenced more than 25,000 young people across the UK, Africa, and the Caribbean.
In August, Mentivity opened a weekly youth club, community space with gaming facilities and table tennis and a bi-weekly food bank at Mentivity House, in Westmoreland Road.
Marvin Charles, Headteacher at E-ACT City Heights Academy, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Sayce Holmes-Lewis for visiting our school and sharing his inspirational journey with our Year 11 students.
“His message about resilience, ambition, and the value of hard work will stay with them for a long time.
“At City Heights, we are committed to providing our students with role models and opportunities that inspire them to reach their full potential and Sayce’s visit was a perfect example of that.”
