Appeal for witnesses after man in 70s dies in fatal collision

Police investigating a fatal incident in Wallington are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Cops were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 9.45pm on Tuesday to reports of a collision involving a box panel van and a man in Manor Road, near the junction with Melbourne Road.

Emergency services attended and provided first aid. Despite their efforts the man, aged in his 70s, died at the scene.

Police have informed his next of kin and advised the man’s family that they will be supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the box panel van stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail.
