Met anxious to trace family of tragic stabbing victim

Police are urgently appealing to the public for assistance in identifying family members of an 18-year-old man who was stabbed to death on Monday morning.

Issa Ali Musa Abdulrahman Barakat was found injured at around 6am in Laitwood Road, Wandsworth, and although emergency responders did all they could to save him, he died in hospital later that day.

On Monday, police arrested 21-year-old Wandsworth resident Salah Al-Mahmoodi  – also known as Salah Ahmed. He was charged on Tuesday with Issa’s murder and is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our hearts go out to Issa and his family, a young man whose life was cruelly taken far too soon.

“It is devastating to think that his family may not yet know of his tragic passing, and we want to find them so we can offer them both support and answers.

“Issa was a member of the Chadian community, and we hope that friends or extended family might help us in reaching his loved ones.”

Anyone with information should call police via 101 or post on X @MetCC quoting CAD 1017/28Oct.
