Applications invited for Southwark’s Pride month
Southwark’s LGBTQI+ community and organisations are being encouraged to apply for a share of £30,000 towards their Pride events this year as the borough opens its second Pride Fund.
The Southwark Pride fund supports our LGBTQI+ communities to create events that celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer identity, along with the culture, histories and rights of these communities.
Events must take place in Southwark from Pride Month in June to the end of August and applications open on today and close on Tuesday, March 4 at 9am. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of April.
The timing couldn’t be more apt as February is also LGBT+ History Month.
Cllr Stephanie Cryan, cabinet member for equalities, democracy and finance, said: “I am delighted to be able to offer this funding for a second year and show our commitment to supporting our LGBTQI+ community.
“Last year’s events were amazing and varied, and very well attended, which shows the incredible support people give our LGBTQI+ residents and organisations.”
