Arrest made following Catford house fire, as arson is suspected
Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested following Sunday’s house fire in Stanstead Road, Catford.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called out at around 5.45am after a blaze took hold on the ground floor of a semi-detached three-roomed flat.
A police spokesman said: “A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to danger life and taken to hospital where he remains with officers.
“There were no reports of any injuries. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing with the London Fire Brigade.”
