Arrested duo now both charged with Lathaniel murder – bringing total in dock up to four

Detectives investigating the murder of a teenager shot in Stockwell have charged two more people in connection with his murder.

Lathaniel Burrell, aged 16, died at the scene after sustaining gunshot wounds in Paradise Road, on Tuesday, March 4. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

A 17-year-old boy from Peckham and a 30-year-old man from Lambeth were arrested on Tuesday, March 26 on suspicion of murder.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The 30-year-old man, Jeffery Frimpong, of Smedley Street, Lambeth, was charged with murder.

Both will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Specialist Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said: “These charges mark a significant milestone in the investigation.

“We continue to appeal for witnesses and for those with knowledge of this incident to come forward. Please be reassured that we will continue to investigate this matter and ensure that all offenders are brought to justice.”

Previously, another 17-year-old boy and Omar Prempeh, 32, of Sunderland Road, Forest Hill, were charged with murder. They will next both appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday, May 29.
