Arrests made and drugs recovered in south London

Police have arrested three people and seized drugs, cash and weapons following an investigation.

Officers stopped a vehicle on Alpine Road, South Bermondsey, on Thursday, 4 June as part of joint investigation between Specialist Crime and Central South Area’s CID.

Detectives searched the vehicle and recovered a large number of wraps containing white powder – believed to be cocaine – which were found behind the dashboard in a hide.

The driver, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug (cocaine) with intent to supply.

While the search was taking place, officers noticed another vehicle parked nearby. The female driver entered a property and returned to the vehicle with a bag before driving off. Officers stopped the vehicle and recovered about ÂŁ50,000 in cash from the bag.

Officers searched an address linked to the woman, aged 57, and recovered a further ÂŁ100,000 in cash and a CS spray.

She was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid/gas, possession of a Class B drug (cannabis) and concealing/removing criminal property.

Later that day, a man was seen to enter the same address on Alpine Road. The man, aged 38, left with a bag and was stopped and searched by officers who recovered approximately one kilogram of white powder, believed to be cocaine, in the bag.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug (cocaine) with intent to supply.

The address on Alpine Road was searched, and officers recovered an array of weapons including knives and CS canisters, cutting agents, scales, and cash.

The suspected haul of cocaine has been sent off for testing.

All three suspects were taken to south London police stations where they remain in custody.

Enquiries continue.
