Arrests over murder of Camberwell mum Charlotte Huggins

Detectives investigating the murder of Charlotte Huggins in Camberwell have arrested two men.

A 34-year-old man, was arrested this morning, Friday, 4 January on suspicion of murder.

A second man, – also aged 34 – has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both are currently in custody at a South London station.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service to a residential address on John Ruskin Street, Camberwell at 4.20am on Tuesday, 1 January to a report of a stabbing.

Officers attended and mum-of-one Charlotte, 33, with stab injuries.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene at 4.50am.

Formal identification awaits, but officers are confident the deceased is Charlotte Huggins from Camberwell.

A post mortem examination on Tuesday, 1 January at Greenwich Mortuary, gave cause of death as a single stab wound.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command led by Detective Inspector Domenica Catino are investigating.

At this early stage, it is believed that the suspect was known to the victim.
