New flats in apartment blocks up to 20 storeys tall will be built after the plans were approved.
A warehouse will be demolished to make way for the two new buildings in Battersea, which will also have industrial units on the lower floors.
A total of 88 flats will be built across both blocks on Gwynne Road under the plans from developer JACHO (Battersea) Ltd, with one block 20 storeys in height and the other eight storeys.
The scheme will have 28 affordable homes, standing at 32 per cent of the overall scheme, including 18 social rent homes.
The developer initially proposed to build 90 homes, but later cut this to 88 after making some design changes.
Wandsworth council’s planning committee unanimously approved the plans on July 18. Labour councillor Paul White said he was ‘very much in favour’ of the scheme and praised the level of social housing it offers.
A report submitted with the application said the site is well connected to public transport, including being only an eight-minute walk from Clapham Junction station.
It said: “This development will bring vibrant, much needed workspace and living accommodation to an area that’s in transition from a mixed employment past to a modern mixed-use urban quarter.”
