Bexley girl guide wins award for nature pictures
She has learned to express herself and her interests in nature by producing a series of pictures over several months and has now been awarded the Girl Guides Interest Badge in recognition of all her hard work.
Lucy, a member of 2nd Hurst Guides said: “I love to see the sunlight glinting on the surface of the River Cray and across the water at Five Arches. I really like to photograph old trees, their shapes and surfaces make such interesting pictures, and when the sunlight comes through the branches overhead, there are lots of shapes and patterns to take pictures of. I was 8 years old when my Dad got me my camera.I have always been into art and Dad bought it for me as a surprise. I normally take pictures of nature and my cat Alfie. I also try to take pictures of birds, but they are so fast and I don’t normally get a good shot. Over the past few months I’ve been going on long walks and I always take my camera. The places where I usually take photographs are Bexley woods, the Five Arches and the River Cray.
Guide Leader at 2nd Hurst Guide Unit, Kim Hallworth said; “Lucy has worked so hard for this badge, she is greatly inspired and clearly loves all things to do with nature. Her pictures are truly remarkable. We had our virtual Guide meeting on Tuesday (May 19th) where we saw all her pictures and it was a pleasure to present Lucy with her award on line”.
