Bin collections for Bexley to change over Christmas

By Joe Coughlan, Local Democracy Reporter

Bin collections in Bexley will change over Christmas and New Year.

Bexley residents can use a calendar on the council’s website to check the revised collection dates.

Collections will take place one day later than usual between Boxing Day and December 30 as well as between January 2 and January 6.

Normal collections will return on Monday, January 9.

A Bexley Council spokeswoman said: “The recent adverse weather conditions meant that some services were disrupted.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. Details of those services that have been disrupted are also online.”

Those who have signed up for the council’s garden waste collection service can also have their real Christmas trees collected from January 9.

Residents are advised to remove all decorations, cut the tree in half and place it next to their garden waste bin ready for collection.

People can also take their real Christmas trees to the waste recycling centres at Thames Road in Crayford and Maidstone Road in Foots Cray.

Residents are also encouraged to recycle their old cards and envelopes and to ensure any decorations, such as ribbons and glitter, are removed first.

Wrapping paper should be paper-based and non-foil to be recycled.

Bin collection dates over the festive period can be checked on the council website, as well as the latest edition of the Bexley magazine.
