Boy, 17, and woman, 40, arrested after fatal shooting of Lathaniel Burrell

A boy and a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of Lathaniel Burrell, who was shot dead in Stockwell last week.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday night. He remains in custody.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested the same evening, on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. She has been bailed while investigations continue, the Met said.

Lathaniel, 16, from Stockwell, died at the scene after being shot in Paradise Road, near Stockwell Tube station at around 3.20pm on March 4.

His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, investigating, said: “Though we have made progress with this investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information about Lathaniel’s murder to please come forward and speak to us.

“We’re particularly appealing to anyone who was in the area of Paradise Road on March 4. I’d also appeal to anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage around this time to come forward.

“Our priority remains tracking down those responsible for killing Lathaniel and bring them to justice.”

The arrests come after Omar Prempeh, 32, was charged with Lathanial’s murder on Saturday.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court yesterday and is due to appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow morning.
