Brixton warehouse roof damaged in early-morning blaze
An early morning fire at a Brixton warehouse forced an evacuation of the building – but no-one was injured.
Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters tackled the flames in Acre Lane this morning (Thursday).
A dryer was destroyed and part of the roof was also damaged by the blaze. Around 49 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of anyone needing medical care.
One of the brigade’s 32m turntable ladders was used as an observation tower at the scene to provide an aerial view of the incident.
The Brigade was called at around 3.45am and the fire was under control by 7am. Fire crews from Clapham, Battersea, Peckham, Tooting, Lambeth and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
