‘Brutal attack’ leaves man in critical condition with serious head injuries

A man was left with serious head and facial injuries after he was assaulted on Tuesday.

Police were called at around 6.30pm to a report of a man who had been found with serious head and facial injuries in Janeway Place, Bermondsey.

The victim, believed to be in his 40’s, was taken to hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the attack or saw anything out of the ordinary in the area at the time.

Detective Inspector Yasser Awad, from Central South BCU, said: “This appears to have been a brutal attack and one which has left the victim in a very serious condition in hospital.

“We are carrying our urgent enquiries to try and establish exactly what happened but we would like to hear from anyone who has information that could help our investigation.

“This includes anyone who might have CCTV or doorbell footage in the surrounding areas.”

Anyone with information should call police via 101 with reference CAD 6220/16May.
