Building firm to donate £5 for every transaction to children’s hospice
A hospice for children in Eltham is to get help from a local builders’ merchant depot, which is raising money during the company’s annual Help for Hospices week.
The Covers Timber and Builders Merchants depot in Upland Road, Bexleyheath – one of more than a dozen operating in the south east of England – will be contributing £5 for every transaction between September 12-16 to Demelza Hospice Care.
Staff will also be raising funds by baking sweet and savoury treats to sell off to customers.
Demelza, in Wensley Close, provides specialist care and emotional support for children with serious or terminal conditions and their families.
Services include family and practical support, music and art therapies, short breaks, clinical care, symptom and medication management, end of life care and bereavement support.
Katie Fielder, from Demelza Hospice Care for Children, said: “When a family desperately needs support, Demelza can give them the time, space and attention to cope, to focus on each other and make lasting memories.
“Our ethos is to work for, and support, the whole family, so they can enjoy their time together, for as long as they have.”
Rupert Green, chairman of Covers, said: “Since we held our first Help for Hospices week in 2015, we have given more than £185,000 to our local charities.
“Like all the hospices we support, Demelza Hospice Care for Children relies on donations to ensure it can continue to offer essential care and support to the community it serves.”
