Burglars break into church to get their hands on over £4k worth of power tools

Burglars broke into a church to get their hands on over £4,000 worth of power tools.
They cut through two padlocks to enter Holy Trinity Church in Tulse Hill, Lambeth.
The Anglican church has an award winning community project and the power tools were bought through generous donations by the church.
Many donations came from locals, giving £50 here and there.
The power tools were being used for a community project which has trained more than 500 volunteers in eco-friendly building techniques.
Some tools were owned by members of the parish.
It is unclear if the site would come under church insurance or not.
The project has already had huge success, with a total of £850,000 raised so far – 85 per cent of that from generous individuals donating.
Luckily though, supporters have since given two huge donations who heard about the theft.
Their generosity means that the tools can be replaced.
The church has also now installed CCTV and have new locks in the church following the raid over the bank holiday weekend last month..
Richard Dormandy, vicar and building project manager at the church said: “This is a real setback and very undermining for our project. It sickens me that people would break into a site like this at the church, and help themselves to stuff that has been given – often through extreme generosity.”
