Charity supporting elderly and vulnerable releases film in recruitment effort
A charity which supports elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents has just released a new film to encourage volunteers to join its ranks.
Fulham Good Neighbours, based in Rosaline Hall, Fulham, runs social clubs six days a week at community centres across the borough and offers laptop, loans and data bundles for residents, to combat social isolation.
Through its Good Neighbour Scheme, volunteers also support residents with errands like shopping, gardening, transport or wheelchair pushing.
The charity released a new film last month – which features its members, volunteers and staff – to encourage people in the area to sign up and help out.
Last year, 638 elderly and disabled people in Fulham were supported by 210 Good Neighbour volunteers.
The charity’s work aims to tackle concerns raised in the council’s 2019 Older People’s Commission, regarding loneliness, poverty and elderly people’s access to services.
In 2023, Fulham Good Neighbours was awarded the Hammersmith and Fulham Civic Award and was invited to a Downing Street Charity Champions event.
Jamie Hilton, director of Fulham Good Neighbours, said: “If you or your neighbour need help our friendly team of staff and volunteers are here to support.
“We want to hear from volunteers and partner organisations, too. Let us know your ambitions for the community, and we will aim to facilitate.”
