A man and a woman died in a multi-vehicle crash in Orpington today on Saturday, February 5 and another man has been rushed to hospital.

The collision involved three cars on the A21 Sevenoaks Road, near Knockholt Railway Station, in Bromley borough, at 1.43pm.

A Toyota Aygo, a Ford Ka and a Mercedes were involved in the collision

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the occupants of one of the vehicles, a man aged in his 80s, and a woman aged in her 70s, died at the scene. Their next of kin have been notified.

The driver of a Ford Ka, a 42-year-old man, was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital.

His condition has been assessed as not life-threatening.

He has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing death whilst disqualified from driving.

The driver of the Mercedes was not injured.

The A21 Sevenoaks Road was shut in both directions between Stonehouse Lane, Pratt’s Bottom, and the M25, Hewitts Roundabout.

This has led to heavy traffic in the area.
