Croydon South MP appointed shadow home secretary by Kemi Badenoch
Croydon South MP Chris Philp has been appointed shadow home secretary by the new Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch.
Ms Badenoch, who was elected leader of the Conservative Party last weekend, has now announced all the key posts that will make up her shadow cabinet.
The former Home Office minister supported Ms Badenoch during the party’s recent leadership campaign.
Mr Philp was first elected as MP for Croydon South in 2015. In the July election, he held his seat by a majority of 2,313 votes.
As well as serving as a junior minister in the Home Office under Rishi Sunak, he previously held a number of government roles including serving as chief secretary to the Treasury under Liz Truss.
