Cyclist dead after collision with car

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Croydon.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at  around 3am today to reports of a car in collision with a cyclist outside the BP garage in Mitcham Road.

Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the cyclist died a short time later. Officers are in the process of tracing the man’s next of kin. They are not releasing further details at present.

The car failed to stop at the scene. Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating and urgent enquiries are under way to identify the car and its driver.

They would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or captured it on dash cam.
