Cyclist dies after collision with bus
Police investigating a fatal collision have named the victim as they continue to appeal for witnesses and footage.
Police were called shortly after 10am on Monday of last week to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a bus in Kennington Road, at the junction with Lambeth Road.
Officers attended, along with London Ambulance Service, and the 62-year-old cyclist, Oswald Mapp, was taken to hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead on Wednesday, May 4. Mr Mapp’s family have been informed.
The bus driver stopped at the scene and continues to assist officers with their enquiries. There have been no arrests.
Detective Sergeant Nick Bale, of the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “The scene of the collision is a busy road and I am sure that there were witnesses who have not yet come forward. I urge those people to get in touch.
“Similarly, I would ask any motorist who was in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cam and if they have footage of the collision, or the events surrounding it, to contact us without delay.”
