A hotel near Hyde Park has been given a dire hygiene rating after dead cockroaches and mice excrement were found in the kitchen.
An inspector found serious issues with food safety at Days Inn by Wyndham London Hyde Park.
The budget hotel in Sussex Gardens, Paddington, which has a four out of five Tripadvisor rating, was given a one out of five rating for hygiene by Westminster City Council after an inspection on January 5.
A report by the council said: “During the visit, mice droppings and dead cockroaches were found on the floor, and on sticky boards in the kitchen and adjacent storage area.”
The hotel was told to regularly clean the kitchen and storage areas, keep a record of checks for pests and keep food in plastic containers with lids.
A food safety officer said major improvements were needed for the way the hotel managed food safety and for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building.
They reported the business was good at handling food hygienically.
There are currently 15 businesses with a zero hygiene rating in the borough of Westminster.
Just under 100 have a rating of one, and more than 2,800 have a top score of five.
The manager of Days Inn London Hyde Park was contacted for comment.
