DLD College students show their appreciation for NHS staff with signs of thanks
Students just made one of the toughest jobs in the world at the moment a tiny bit easier.
Medics at St Thomas’ Hospital in Waterloo have been on the front line in the coronavirus pandemic – treating patients and having to comfort the families of those who have died and been unable to attend their loved-one’s bedside.
So the staff and boarding pupils of DLD College in Westminster Bridge Road have shown their appreciation by putting up signs of gratitude in its windows – right opposite the hospital entrance.
The aim is to lift the spirits of those working tirelessly throughout the coronavirus outbreak.
Boarders still safely living at the school designed and painted the posters to place proudly on display in the college windows.
The students were overjoyed to receive an expression of thanks on Twitter from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, who responded to say how it was making their staff smile.
They have also offered to host posters created by children across the UK for NHS Nightingale Hospitals, because these could not be accepted at those new medical centres.
DLD College London has offered to add them to their collection in their windows facing St Thomas’.
DLD College has also donated its stock of science goggles for personal protective equipment.
Principal Irfan Latif said: “At DLD College London we are doing everything we can to support our local community and the fantastic NHS staff during this coronavirus crisis – we are all in this together.”
