Driver killed and 11-year-old in life-threatening condition after lorry crashes into two cars and house in Kidbrooke

A man has died and an 11-year-old child is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after a lorry crashed into two cars and a house this morning.

Police were called just after 8am to Broad Walk in Kidbrooke by the London Ambulance Service to a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles and a building.

A number of other people were injured in the incident, which happened during the Monday morning school run.

Two other men were also taken to hospital and an update on their condition is still awaited.

Road closures are in place and the public are asked to avoid the area.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

London Fire Brigade Station Commander Nathan Hobson, who was at the scene said: “It was a challenging incident and it appears that a lorry collided with two cars and crashed into a house.

“Specialist Urban Search and Rescue crews attended the scene and efforts were made to free the lorry driver, but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

“The London Ambulance Service confirmed that they treated a further three patients. One was taken to a major trauma centre, one was taken to hospital, and one was discharged.”

Firefighters from Eltham, Lee Green, Bexley, Croydon and East Greenwich fire stations attended the incident.
