Environmental champions of Merton in running for award

The charity Sustainable Merton – dedicated to championing community-led climate action through a variety of projects and collaborations, has been shortlisted for an award.

The charity addresses key issues such as air quality, food waste, and energy efficiency, while fostering social connections and improving well-being.

Sustainable Merton has been nominated as a finalist in the Charity of the Year category at the Merton Best Business Awards.

This year’s awards have seen nearly 200 applications reflecting the vibrant and diverse business community in Merton.

Diana Sterck, chief executive of Sustainable Merton, said: “Being shortlisted for this award is a wonderful acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication of our team, volunteers, and the entire Merton community.

“Our mission has always been to empower residents to take action on the climate emergency, and this recognition inspires us to continue making a difference in the lives of those in our community.”

Sustainable Merton has spearheaded projects which have addressed environmental issues – ones involving repairs, recycling, and combating food waste.

The winners of the Merton Best Business Awards 2024 will be announced at this year’s Bollywood-themed ceremony on Thursday.
