Fire bursts through second and third floor of flats after cooking left unattended
A fire ripped through two floors of flats yesterday afternoon after cooking was left unattended.
Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters tackled the fire in St John’s Hill, n Battersea.
Half of the second floor and part of the third floor of an end-of-terrace house converted into flats was damaged by the blaze.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said there were no reports of any injuries.
The fire is being treated as accidental.
A spokesman for the LFB said: “Fires are more likely to start in the kitchen than any other room in the home.
“Cooking should never be left unattended on the hob or grill. If you have to leave the kitchen, turn off the heat.”
The brigade was called at around 5.30pm and the fire was brought under control by around 7pm.
Crews from Battersea, Wandsworth, Clapham and Lambeth fire stations attended the scene.
