Firefighters tackle high-rise flats fire in Catford
Firefighters remain at the scene of a fire that broke out in a high-rise block of flats in Catford this afternoon.
Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters tackled the blaze in Rosenthal Road, which was brought under control by around 2.15pm.
There are currently no reports of any injuries, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.
Two flats in the block were alight. Pictures from the scene show the blackened windows of three apartments on the top three floors of tower.
Rushey Green remains closed between Rosenthal Road and Honley Road and people are advised to avoid the area whilst firefighters continue to work at the scene.
The LFB took almost 50 calls to the incident, with the first received at around 12.50pm.
Fire crews from Forest Hill, Greenwich, Deptford, Lee Green and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, the LFB said.
