First picture of 15-year-old murdered outside Lewisham chicken shop
Detectives investigating the murder of 15-year-old Jay Hughes, from Bellingham, have released an image of him as they continue to appeal for witnesses to the attack.
The teenager was fatally stabbed yards from his home on Randlesdown Road, Bellingham at around 5.22pm on Thursday 1 November.
He was taken to a south London hospital but was pronounced dead at 8.15pm.
A post-mortem examination at Greenwich mortuary on Sunday, 4 November found the cause of death was a single stab wound to the heart.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Soole, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “I’m hoping the release of Jay’s image will help to jog the memory of those in and around the Randlesdown Road area in Bellingham on the night of his murder.
“My team continues to work around the clock to apprehend those responsible for this callous attack, which cost a young boy his life.
“I’d urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they believe it is, to do the right thing and get in contact with us as soon as possible.
