Forest Hill snooker prospect confident of more success
Forest Hill snooker starlet Ayan Roy reckons he now has the confidence to claim more trophies after his maiden success on the Cuestars U21 Bronze Tour.
The 10-year-old defeated rankings leader Zain Jeraj (Tooting) 2-0 in the final of the fourth leg at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.
Roy made his highest competitive break of 21 during the day.
“When I potted the pink to secure the match, I was over the moon,” said Roy, who practises at home and plays matches at Frames Sports Bar in Coulsdon. “I feel like I played very well that day.
“Before that day, I thought that I would be someone in Cuestars that plays and is not able to win anything. But now, since I have won one, it has given me the confidence that I can win more.
“I would like to thank my dad [Amit] for believing in me every day and helping me get better over the six months I have been playing.
“I would also like to thank my (WPBSA) coach Brian Cox for teaching me to have a consistent pre-shot routine and discipline, without which I wouldn’t have won.”
Roy won 2-0 against Gosport’s Daniel Walker in his semi-final.
Fareham Snooker Club hosts the fifth leg of eight on Sunday, March 20.
