Former police officer charged with multiple sexual offences against children

A former policeman is to appear in court charged with multiple sexual offences against children.

Ex-PC Tom Thorpe is due to appear for trial at Kingston Crown Court on Monday.

He has been charged with three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, one count of attempting to cause a child under 13 to look at an image of sexual activity and one count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Thorpe was based on the South Area Basic Command Unit and resigned from the Met in September 2022.

The former officer was arrested on December 6, 2019 and charged on February 22, 2021.

Following his arrest, he was suspended from duty.
