Founder of Clap for Our Carers wants this Thursday’s to be the last

This week will be the final Clap For Our Carers in the series.

It was started from humble beginnings by Annemarie Plas in her Streatham living room after seeing similar displays of appreciation in her home country of The Netherlands.

It has now become a national activity, with households across the UK getting involved.

For this last clap of the series, Annemarie has asked that as many households in the UK as possible get involved, and make this the loudest clap yet.

After this Thursday, Annemarie will be focusing on building Clap For Our Carers, fortifying the brand in order to create an annual moment.

She says the public are free to continue to show their appreciation in whichever way they would like.

And Annemarie will continue to use the Clap For Our Carers platforms for good, showcasing the amazing fundraising efforts and incredible stories from those who are caring for us during lockdown.

She is working towards an annual Clap For Our Carers Day, on March 26, to show the respect and the gratitude for all those who left their homes for the rest of us to safely stay in.

On the weekly event, Annemarie said: “I am amazed at how the UK has adopted Clap For Our Carers and how it has managed to connect communities for one moment, every week.

“Whether it is people standing on doorsteps, balconies, in their gardens or hanging out of windows, the round of applause hopefully brought us together when we are all distancing ourselves.

“The messages I have had from those who care for us have been incredible, and have made everything worthwhile.

“Although this is the last clap in the series, we are hugely excited about how we can build on Clap For Our Carers and the future that the campaign holds.”

The final Clap For Our Carers will happen this Thursday at 8pm.
