From New York City to Deptford – tattoo shop offers exciting celebration for third birthday

A tattoo studio that has travelled across the world is about to celebrate its third birthday.

Three Kings London moved from New York City to Deptford High Street, in Deptford, on July 15, 2020.

To celebrate the third anniversary of the move, the Three Kings team are hosting a “flash day” on Saturday where a selection of tattoo designs will be offered for £60, a discounted price from the normal shop minimum of £80.

New York artist, Amanda Rodriguez, 39, founded the Three Kings in the USA and now lives in New Cross.

She said: “The transition from New York to London was not as smooth as I thought it would be. But as soon as I stepped out into Deptford I knew this is where my shop would be.”

Ms Rodriguez said the opening process was more difficult than she had expected, when the shop was finally ready to invite customers in, Covid hit.

She said: “That first lockdown was very rough, but we were able to open by July 15, 2020, and it’s crazy that now we’re three years in. It feels like it’s still the first year.”

A thriving pocket of London, Deptford is home to a number of tattoo studios. Just last year Deptford High Street was voted one of the “coolest streets in the world” by Time Out magazine.

Ms Rodriguez said: “I’m really proud of the shop, the vibe we have, the people we have there and the quality of artists that we’ve got and I love being in Deptford and seeing the area change and grow.

“The flash days are a little chaotic but super fun.

“It’s an awesome opportunity to meet new people and it’s cool to be able to show new people what Deptford is all about.”

If you are one of the first 50 customers, you will also receive a goody bag filled with discount vouchers from Three Kings and some of their favourite local independent neighbours.
