Fulham residents baffled by bizarre incidents after ‘the Tofu Two’ raid couple’s food delivery

By Owen Sheppard, local democracy reporter

Fulham residents have their eyes peeled for two women caught on CCTV rummaging through a food delivery box at a couple’s front door – and stealing their tofu.

Dubbed “the Tofu Two”, they are thought to be behind other bizarre and mischievous acts around SW6 that neighbours have been highlighting on social media platform Nextdoor.

Two more home-CCTV videos from separate households show two women – also thought to be the prolific duo – turning on garden taps and walking away on May 14 and 25.

Since the tofu incident on May 4, other Nextdoor users in Fulham have reported petty thefts of parcels from front doors by two mysterious troublemakers.

Although the two women seen in the videos appear to look similar, it is not known whether they are in fact the same perpetrators, and their identities are unknown.

Samantha Walker-Arends, 33, who posted about the tofu snatchers who raided her front door, said: “It happened at 6.30am when I was getting my dogs ready for a walk.

“I thought I heard our food delivery being dropped off. But then I went to the door and realised we had been rummaged through.

“They just stole the tofu. They had ripped the box open, taken the tofu out of its packaging and just taken that.

“I think they scarpered because my dogs went to the door, although they’re not very intimidating, just greyhounds.”

Ms Walker-Arends, who earns a living as a dog trainer, continued: “My post [on Nextdoor] now has hundreds of comments and I’ve been stopped in the shop by someone going ‘you’re the girl who had the tofu nicked’.

“There have been a few videos that have caught [two women] either taking things or doing random things like turning on garden taps.

“They’re even wearing the same clothes and even the same hats.

“They were so bold and they go around so early. Another person had a video of them turning on their tap at 5am.”

The Fulham resident of nearly 15 years said she didn’t report the tofu theft to the police because she didn’t “want to waste their time”.

She added: “So many people have things delivered to their doors, it’s very easy for them to be stolen. It’s amazing how many people in Fulham have CCTV.”
