Gabriel Stoyanov stabbing: 14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of Lewisham murder

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death on Friday.

Gabriel Petrov Stoyanov, aged 21, was found in Bromley Road, Downham at around 11.50pm with multiple stab injuries.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but died during the afternoon on Saturday.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of murder. He was taken into custody where he remains.

A fundraiser page has been set up in honour of Mr Stoyanov, and his friends have said he will be “sorely missed”.

One, who did not wish to be named, said: “He was a big Arsenal fan and was loved by everyone at Arsenal.

“He cared about everyone and nobody had a bad word to say about him.”

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “Today’s arrest is a positive development, but we know there were up to two further suspects involved.

“Our investigation continues at pace and we have a number of ongoing lines of inquiry to attempt to identify and trace the other individuals.

“I would urge anyone with information which could assist us to come forward.”
