General Election 2024: Every result from South and west London
Labour are celebrating a landslide general election win this morning after huge gains from the Conservatives across the capital.
Tory leader Rishi Sunak conceded defeat at around 4.45am this morning, declaring the end to 14 years of Conservative power in a catastrophic defeat.
Sir Keir Starmer told party supporters in the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall: “We did it” after his party secured the 326 seats needed for a majority.
He currently has more than 400 seats in the Commons – only the second Prime Minister in history to achieve that feat after Tony Blair. And a handful of seats are still to declare.
Among the seats turning red were Croydon East, a new seat, Eltham and Chislehurst, Chelsea and Fulham and Cities of London and Westminster – both for the first time in their history.
