Greenwich Mayor celebrates grand opening of relocated Post Office
The Mayor of Greenwich cut the ribbon to mark the grand opening of a relocated post office yesterday.
Cllr Jit Ranabhat was joined by the new postmaster, Nirpesh Maharjan, to celebrate the opening of Brewery Road Post Office at 7 Brewery Road.
The new post office has taken over previously vacant premises, which have been refurbished to include a convenience shop, stationery, and confectionery store. There is also a photocopier and printing service.
The premises now offer 50 hours of service per week, with an additional 7.5 hours of opening time.
Mr Maharjan said: “People come into the shop and their reaction is ‘Wow!’ as it is very light, bright and modern.

“Word is spreading that we have moved and the longer hours and parking right outside is very handy to do their banking, send parcels or to do their home shopping returns.
“People can withdraw cash during the Post Office opening hours as there is no ATM in the area at the moment.”
This comes after the previous postmaster resigned and the original location at 2 Brewery Road was withdrawn for post office use on January 29.
Cllr Ranabhat said: “I know that residents and business are delighted that with the retirement of the previous postmaster they have this modern replacement branch just across the way and with longer opening hours than before.”
Mr Maharjan, who previously worked at Plumstead High Street Post Office for 15 years, runs the shop with his wife, Rejina, and two members of staff.
