A further 133 people in Wandsworth tested positive for Covid-19 on August 16, taking the total to 33,485 since the pandemic started in the borough, according government data.

The same figures show there has been one Covid death in Wandsworth in August so far.

There have been 437 coronavirus deaths in the borough since the pandemic began.

A St George’s spokesperson said: “The vast majority of patients requiring hospital care are either unvaccinated or have only received one dose of the vaccine.

“We’d encourage anyone who is eligible to get both doses – this will give you the fullest possible protection against Covid-19, and reduce your risk of getting seriously ill from it or passing it on to others.”
