Hammersmith Food Feastival brings together dishes from across the globe

Dishes from all over the world will be on offer this weekend in a two-day international food festival. The Hammersmith Feastival, as it is being named, is in Lyric Square, which is also used for spring market gatherings.
The Feastival kicks off tomorrow (Friday) from 11am-9pm with a huge food market running alongside an impressive line-up of live music acts.
On Saturday there will be a traffic-free pop-up market in King Street from 10am-6pm, with more than 150 stalls full of food, drink and gifts.
There will also be a jam-packed schedule of singers, bands and street entertainment for all the family, along with cookery demonstrations and food tasting.
Cllr Andrew Jones, Hammersmith and Fulham cabinet member for the economy and the arts, has urged residents to make the most of the food jamboree.
He said: “The two-day event is part of our efforts to invest in and improve our town centres. We want to make Hammersmith and Fulham a great place to work, live and socialise.”
You will be able to have your brunch, lunch and supper all in one place in the outdoor seating area at the extended Lyric Square Food Market on Friday from 11am.
Among those supplying an array of street food from across the globe will be White City resident Tieyan Ewekam, providing dishes seen in the Nigerian eatery Jollof Mama, Shepherd’s Bush, and Moroccan food from the catering firm Marrakech Kitchen.
Live music acts from noon will include Jazz Mino, one of Britain’s most exciting new pop artists, with more than six million streams on Spotify, and singer-songwriter Ky Lewis.
Genres of music filling the air will include jazz, soul, funk, classical, rock, pop and more across four busking pods down King Street, as well as on stage in Lyric Square.
King Street will be pedestrianised on Saturday for the pop-up market, which runs from 10am-6pm.
There will be everything from crafts, jewellery, home accessories, boutique fashion and art on offer, plus cookery demonstrations and food tasting.
Children’s workshops, stilt walking chefs, comedy and more are all on tap at the pedestrian-friendly market, which also includes the Queen of Hearts on roller skates as well as her 7ft-tall tea trolley.
To allow for the Spring Feastival Market, King Street will be closed to traffic between the Hammersmith Gyratory and Leamore Street from 5am-9pm on Saturday.
