Hindu festival illuminates the streets of Lewisham
The annual Chariot Festival took place in Lewisham on Sunday.
The festival is a Hindu celebration which leads a colourful procession through the streets of Lewisham with authentic food and music.
Those in attendance wore traditional dress and costumes with some, pictured above, wearing small chariots as they followed the main large chariot through the streets.
Roger Garett, from Lewisham, was at the festival and said: “It was very colourful and very friendly.
They seemed flattered that an English person was there. I’ve never really seen anything like it, it was a real eye-opener.”
