Hundreds of co-living homes set for former industrial site in Brixton
Hundreds of new co-living homes are set to be built after plans were given the green light by the council.
Lambeth council approved plans submitted by investment firm Mitheridge, developer LGL and PLP Architecture, to build a co-living development on the site of a former industrial yard in Brixton.
Hardess Yard will include 320 co-living studios, as well as 1,400sqm of floor space for small businesses from Brixton. The development will also feature newly-landscaped public spaces and a pocket park.
Daniel Rastegar, partner at Mitheridge, said: “This scheme promises to bring significant benefit to Brixton and Lambeth, providing quality homes on flexible and accessible terms.
“We’re grateful to all those who contributed to the public consultation, and to Lambeth council for their support.”
Hardess Yard sits opposite Higgs Yard, another mixed-use site recently completed by the Peabody estate.
Harry Green, director at LGL, said: “Across London, there are countless underutilised sites with the potential to house new communities.
“At Hardess Yard, we are excited to bring forward this transformational vision together with Mitheridge.”
