Images of £1billion Southwark skyscrapers revealed
A global property developer has revealed previously unseen images of its Southwark skyscrapers, including one which will stand 40 storeys tall.
The CGI images of rooftop views and interior designs have been released after Southwark council granted full planning approval for the £1billion mixed-use scheme.
The development, created by Hines alongside architecture firm Foster + Partners, includes three buildings planned for Blackfriars Road in Bankside.
Two will deliver more than 400 new homes on-site, of which 40 per cent are affordable, and the third will create 800,000 sq ft of office space.

Construction is set to start later this year with a completion date aiming for 2030.
The development will be known as ‘The Round’, after the circular cultural space at its centre that will host year-round events.
Located within a three-minute walk of Southwark station, and with numerous cultural landmarks, such as the Southbank Centre, Tate Modern, and National Theatre, on its doorstep, The Round will also include retail and food outlets, alongside new community and educational spaces.
The developer has also promised to plant 70 new trees on the site to boost biodiversity.
Following approved planning permission by the council, Hines has also now agreed to invest £74million into a Community Infrastructure Levy payment and £12million as an affordable workspace contribution.

This includes 20,000 sq ft of new affordable workspace for local and socially minded enterprises.
The Round will also include children’s play areas, cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as the Hatters Yard micro food market, offering delicious food and beverage options from the best of London’s traders.
Ross Blair, senior managing director and country head of Hines UK, said: “Our commitment to bringing this scheme to life, and our investment in ensuring it becomes a destination with community and social wellbeing at its core, underlines our long-term conviction in London as a thriving, global centre for culture, education and business.”
