‘It’s never too later to change your career’ proves Greenwich mother-of-four

It’s never too late to change your career, a nursery worker has found as she studies to teach adults instead.
Grace Daramola, from Greenwich, previously worked for more than 24 years in childcare, working with children under the age of five.
The mother-of-four now wants to develop her leadership skills with the guidance of Coventry University – at its Greenwich campus – after taking voluntary redundancy several years ago.
Grace is studying business management and leadership at the university and may study a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education to go into teaching.
She hopes to teach adults and mature students within a higher education setting.
“I’m really hopeful this course can kickstart my journey to become a university tutor, as well as giving me the flexibility to keep my career options as open as possible,” she said.
“CU has really refreshed my mind. I’ve loved the project management, strategic management and globalisation modules we’ve studied as they have given me a real insight into how I can hone and develop my business management skills.”
Her family have been supportive whilst she undergoes a change in career direction through her studies.
“I have four children who are all graduates, so I wanted to further my education and studies to better connect and engage with them,” she explained. “They’ve all been really happy with my progress.”
The course has a flexible study schedule so Grace could fit it around her busy personal and professional life. The course also has six entry-points during the year, for added flexibility.
“I’ve really enjoyed my experience with CU London so far and we’ve all been lucky to have great staff and teachers there to support us with a blend of on-campus and online learning,” she explained.
“I’ve also felt very privileged to have such a great study group to share ideas and build a bond with.”
