Khalife escape from HMP Wandsworth: Now second man charged with aiding him
A second man has been charged with assisting Daniel Khalife after he escaped from prison.
Adeel Khan 30, of Waltham Forest, allegedly helped Khalife after he escaped from HMP Wandsworth in September 2023. He has also been charged with possession of a phone in prison contrary to the Prisons Act 1952.
Khan was charged via postal requisition earlier this month and is due to attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Imran Chowdhury 25, of Chingford, has also been charged with assisting Khalife after he escaped from HMP Wandsworth.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 7 and pleaded not guilty. He was released on bail to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on February.
Khalife, 23, a former British Army soldier, was accused of illegally accessing personal information about British soldiers, and sharing that information and other classified documents with contacts in Iran.
He was arrested for breaching the Official Secrets Act and placed on remand at Wandsworth jail, from where he escaped on September 6, 2023.
It triggered a nationwide police search. After three days on the run, he was re-captured and in November last year, was found guilty of spying for Iran.
