King’s Avenue Primary kids “delighted” to be back at school

Children at a Clapham Common primary school are “delighted” to be back, according to the head teacher.

King’s Avenue Primary School opened its doors to children in reception, Year 1 and Year 6 on Tuesday of last week, with numbers increasing over the past two weeks.

One Year 1 pupil said: “I love being back at school because I can play with my friends.”

The King’s Avenue Team worked tirelessly to get the school safe and ready for children to come back.

All classrooms have been set up to seat 12 children and maintain social distancing.

The children have been taught a range of social distancing games to play at lunch and they are learning.

One child said “I’m learning more because my teacher is helping me.”

The school continues to provide high quality home learning for all of its children and looks forward to seeing everybody in September.

Head teacher Rachel Mollett said: “The school community have been amazing.

“The support from staff and parents though this difficult time to ensure children are safe, happy and well is incredible.”
