Lambeth council chief executive resigns after drink-drive and drugs investigation
The boss of Lambeth council has announced his resignation after being charged with drink-driving, possession of a class A drug and failing to stop after a road accident.
Bayo Dosunmu will step down from his role as chief executive of Lambeth with effect from July 15.
A Lambeth council spokesman said: “Fiona Connolly is currently Acting Chief Executive and the Council will shortly begin the process to recruit a permanent Chief Executive.”
Mr Dosunmu, 46, of Hammersmith, was arrested by police in Westminster, on June 23.
The Met said Mr Dosunmu was charged the following day with possession of a class A controlled drug, failing to stop after a road accident, driving above the prescribed alcohol limit, and using a motor vehicle in a public place without third party insurance.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 1.
Mr Dosunmu has been chief executive of the council since April 2022, taking over from Andrew Travers. He joined Lambeth in 2019 from Homes England and was previously the council’s deputy chief executive and strategic director for resident services.
