Latest new talents of the revamped Camberwell Art College show their best work
Some of the cream of South London’s most creative artists are currently showing what they have achieved in their three-year degrees.
There were more than 2,000 visitors on the first night of the Camberwell College of Arts show in Peckham Road, in an exhibition which continues until June 23.
Among them was the college’s chancellor, Grayson Perry.
There are likely to be more over the weekend for the show, which is an important showcase in the art and design calendar.
There is the open house event next Saturday which will the close the show. Families get a chance to try lots of arts and design workshops. The college is aimiing to reach the Peckham and Camberwell families who haven’t been in the college and might get a flavour of some of the arts and craft done over the past year at the college.
The shows are an opportunity for potential employers, friends, family, industry and members of the public to view the students’ work as they prepare to launch their careers.
Graduates of the colleges have a strong reputation for building careers in a range of occupations within the
creative industries and many of our students go on to make significant contributions within the sector both in
the UK and globally.
Professor David Crow, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of Colleges, said: “The Summer Shows are the
high point of our academic year as well as the culmination of our students’ hard work and time with us. Their
in-depth understanding of making, research, emerging technologies, and sustainable practice all happily collide
to create what is always an adventurous and imaginative show.”
