Major mental health charities launch official merger

Two major mental health charities have joined forces to reach more people in need of support across five boroughs.

Following the merger announcement late last year, Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich Mind and Lambeth and Southwark Mind have now officially merged under a new title, South East London Mind.

The South-east London charity offers 29 services which will all continue to run as they did pre-merger – with no changes to front line staff.

The new, larger organisation, run by 250 members of staff and more than 200 volunteers, is set to support more than 11,500 people this year.

The charity now also offers mental health and dementia training to local businesses in Lambeth and Southwark for a fee – with all the proceeds going back into supporting the community.

Development and engagement manager Liz Pepper said: “While National Mind does some amazing campaigning and provides information to millions of people each year we, as your local Mind, deliver services in your communities – we work to be there when it matters with our on-the-ground services.”
