Man, 34, charged with murder of Rijkaard Siafa

A man has been charged with the murder of Rijkaard Siafa in Croydon.

David Walcott, 34, of Turle Road, Norbury, was charged with murder on Saturday at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.

He had been arrested in the early hours of Friday by police investigating the murder.

The investigation was launched after Rijkaard, who is from Croydon, was stabbed to death in Fellmongers Yard, at around 6pm on April 12.

Police were called to the scene of the crime, where a number of members of the public attempted to provide first aid, before London Ambulance Service crews and those from London’s Air Ambulance arrived.

Despite their efforts, Rijkaard died at the scene.

A post-mortem took place on Thursday and gave the cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

A spokesman for the Met said: “Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD6022/12Apr. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“You can also make contact and upload any material which may assist the investigation at https://mipp.police.uk/operation/01MPS24W40-PO1
